Headstart Nursery, Inc., began ornamental plug production in 1980 at our Gilroy, CA facility, by growing plugs for local cut flower produces. Over the years, our product mix has expanded to include not only a wide selection of cut flowers, but also a diverse range of perennials, herbs, grasses, and vegetative liners. We have also been a Certified Organic facility for both vegetable transplants and ornamental plugs for over 5 years. As this market continues to expand, we welcome your suggestions on organic ornamental perennials and herbs that you are interested in growing. We are proud to introduce our new line Vegetable & Herbs, which will be grown either conventionally or organically depending on your specific requirements.

We offer a complete list of seeded plugs available in 512, 392, and 200 plug trays as well as vegetative liners in 128 & 72 plug trays. At Headstart Nursery, Inc., our product line is unique because You, decide what items we add each year. Who knows your business better than you? With the vast numbers of ‘new’ and/or ‘improved’ items continuously appearing on the market, we do not feel it’s our place to tell you what to grow. Instead, we look to you, our customers, to tell us what you want. If you do not see an item listed on our product sheets, let us know. By working with over 20 suppliers, chances are, we’ll be able to source the seed or cuttings you’re looking for. Our product list is merely a starting point….
