Is your non-profit group looking for a fun, festive holiday fundraiser? It doesn't get any easier than selling Headstart Nursery's beautiful poinsettias!
To help support local schools and non-profit groups, Headstart Nursery offers a special fundraiser discount. Poinsettia prices for 2010 have not yet been determined, but in 2009, our gorgeous, Gilroy-grown poinsettias were available for only $5 each. Your group can sell them for $8 or $10 — still a great value — and earn $3 to $5 per plant that you sell.

Here are our tips for running a fun and successful fundraising event:
- Identify a main contact
Establish one person on your fundraising committee to serve as the main contact with Headstart Nursery. This person will need to place the order, arrange for pickup or delivery of the plants, and pay for the plants ordered. - Choose a date
Poinsettias are available from Headstart Nursery starting the week after Thanksgiving. You should decide what date you would like your customers to pick up their poinsettias. Choose a time and location where customers can easily pick up their plants. - Print flyers and order forms
Sometime in October, prepare a flyer to advertise for your fundraiser. Be sure to give your members plenty of time to sell poinsettias to friends, family, and local businesses. - Place your order
Once you know how many plants you need, place your order with Headstart Nursery. It's often a good idea to order a few extra cases. There are always people who decide to buy once they see how beautiful the poinsettias really are!
2010 Fundraiser Order forms will be posted to our website in September. Fundraiser orders are due to Headstart Nursery by mid-November. Submit your order form by faxing it to (408) 842-3224. - Schedule delivery or pickup
Headstart Nursery can deliver orders of 3 or more cases for free to Gilroy, Morgan Hill, San Juan Bautista, or Hollister. Please call (408) 842-3030 to arrange for a delivery time and location. A representative from your organization must be present to help unload the plants. Plants are generally available Monday through Friday, starting the week after Thanksgiving.
The poinsettias are packed in cases and do take up a lot of room, so be sure you have enough space to store them out of the weather until your customers are ready to pick them up. Poinsettias should only be stored in cases for 1-2 days. - Distribute plants to your customers
Before your scheduled pickup time, have volunteers sort cases so that it is easy and efficient for your customers to pick up their plants.
